I used Acushnet for my solar install. The main person, Luke, was very knowledgeable on all the state rules regarding solar installs and requirements. Other companies I talked to gave me mixed answers that turned out to be wrong.

Pricing from Acushnet was  well below everyone else in the state which would normally seem a bit strange but I believe it has to do with Solarcity pretty much owning MA solar and setting prices high. Other installers can come is a few pennies less than Solarcity and look like heroes. But, Acushnet has been doing solar even before Solarcity was here so their prices are not tied to Solarcity.  Acushnet’s prices are in line with other states so I felt good knowing that his pricing is not completely bogus.  Makes me a bit mad that other companies are gouging people here in MA.

I think the entire process for me was about 4 weeks from signing papers to getting my system installed. All the necessary signoffs from inspectors and electric companies took a bit longer (that is not Acushnet’s fault). And since my system went live, it has been doing awesome and well within my expectations.

My system is supposed to cover around 60% of my annual usage and it is actually on track to perform better this year.  It’s nice not having a bill for over 6 months!

The one area that can be slow in dealing with Acushnet is on everyday service. I generally use email and I would usually have to wait a day before I get an answer back from someone. It’s not a big deal but they could work to improve that a bit.

They also sell other alternative heating products so I know they have a ton of customers beyond solar. The business is family run so it is nice to support a local company rather than one of these larger corporate owned ones. I would highly recommend giving them a try for a free estimate.
